Welcome to my review of The Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore.

An Icon in the Heart of Town

There are some venues that just are the heart and soul of their town and Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore is one of them.

Sponsored.

Set right in the pulse of Tullamore, this is an iconic wedding venue with decades of experience under its belt, and you can feel that history the minute you walk through the door.

It’s a family-run hotel, and the family are still very much hands-on. What really stood out to me is that there are team members who have been working alongside them for over 20 years. That depth of experience matters. It’s one of those solid, dependable venues where you know you’re in safe hands and the team will deliver a seamless wedding experience.

When I shared that I was visiting The Bridge House, my inbox lit up with messages from past couples. One that really struck me was from Mary, who said:

“We got married there last month! The absolute best wedding team and venue!”

That tells you a lot. Couples aren’t just happy, they’re still buzzing afterwards.

Let me take you through the day…

Ceremony: The Millennium Suite

For your ceremony, couples have complimentary use of the Millennium Suite, and it really is a show-stopper. It’s an opulent room with:

  • High ceilings
  • A light, ornate mural overhead
  • A statement chandelier
  • Antique glass surrounding the room

The silver chiavari chairs set the tone beautifully, and what I love is that you don’t need a huge amount of added décor. The room already does a lot of the heavy lifting. It’s elegant, timeless and feels very “wedding ready” as it is.

If you’re planning a smaller, more intimate wedding, this suite could also work really well as both ceremony and reception space. I genuinely really liked this room, it has presence without feeling overwhelming.

Arrival Reception: Outdoor Lounge, Secret Garden & Traditional Bar

For your arrival reception, you’ve got a couple of great options.

One of the most unique is the outdoor lounge, which sits above the hotel. You’re slightly elevated, with a view over the surrounding area, and it gives a lovely sense of being in your own little bubble while still being in the heart of town.

Tucked away, you’ll also find a secret garden which is perfect for photos and for couples who want a few quiet moments together to catch their breath.

If the weather isn’t playing ball (this is Ireland after all!), you can host your arrival reception in the lounge area, which is kept private for you and your guests. From here, you also have:

  • The iconic staircase as a backdrop for great for photos
  • A full traditional bar with lots of cosy nooks, crannies and warm fires

There is no shortage of spaces for guests to mingle, sit, chat and soak up the atmosphere. It feels like there’s a corner for everyone.

Dining Reception: The Charleville Suite

When it’s time to dine, you’ll move into the Charleville Suite for your wedding meal and evening reception.

This room is very versatile and can be adjusted depending on your numbers. It can take up to 300 guests, but the way it’s layered and structured means it doesn’t feel like a giant function room. My own impression of the space was very “Gatsby” – it has a glamorous, Art Deco feel, with a statement chandeliers and staircase.

You definitely feel the grandeur of the room when you walk in.

Practically speaking, it’s also very well set up. Within the Charleville Suite you have:

  • A bar in the room
  • Your own private smoking area
  • Toilets right there

Once you’re in, you’re essentially self-contained so you and your guests have your own world, which I know is something couples really value. You’re not criss-crossing the hotel; your celebration is all in one defined, private space.

Food & Service – Traditional, Generous & Well Rehearsed

Food wise, I’ve only ever heard good things about The Bridge House. This is one of those traditional Irish wedding venues where:

  • Portions are generous
  • Seconds are a given
  • Nobody leaves hungry

You can expect classic, well-executed wedding dishes and a kitchen and service team who know what they’re doing.

Many of the staff have been serving weddings here for years which means there’s a strong confidence in how they look after a room full of guests. They understand timing, flow and how to quietly look after everyone in the background without fuss.

When it’s time to dance, everything is thought through. Behind the fairy light backdrop at the top table, the band can be setting up unseen. When the time comes, the backdrop moves, the band is ready, and the night just… flows. No awkward waits, no big fuss, it’s all very seamless.

Bridal Suite: Space to Get Ready & Wind Down

The Bridal Suite is really well laid out for your wedding stay.

When you enter, you’re first welcomed into a separate lounge area before the bedroom. This lounge is brilliant for welcoming suppliers or hair and makeup prep in the morning

Then you move into the main bedroom, which is spacious enough to get ready in comfortably.

There’s also a jacuzzi bath for the next day (a very welcome touch when you’re a bit tired and maybe slightly delicate after the celebrations!)

Overall, it’s a really practical, comfortable and well-thought-out suite for a wedding couple.

Value: Excellent Packages & All-Inclusive Option

I know a lot of you are really conscious of wedding pricing at the moment, and rightly so. I was genuinely impressed by the value on offer here.

Packages start from €75 per person

BUT They also have an All-Inclusive Package which really caught my attention

This All-Inclusive Package rolls in everything you need for the day, such as:

  • Arrival reception
  • Wedding meal
  • Half bottle of wine per guest
  • Ceremony options

And then it goes a step further by including key suppliers like:

  • Photographer
  • Wedding cake
  • Flower bouquets
  • Band and DJ

All of this comes in from €14,990 for 120 guests, which, in the current market, is unbelievable value.

This is why I always say it’s so important to shop the market and really compare what’s included. This is a fantastic package that helps couples manage their budget without compromising on experience. To learn more about this package, reach out to the team.

Final Thoughts

The Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore is one of those iconic, tried-and-tested venues that has put in the work over many years and knows how to deliver a solid, memorable wedding day.

If you’re considering Tullamore or the Midlands for your wedding, I would highly recommend reaching out to Angela, their wedding coordinator. She is one of the best in the business and will make sure you’re looked after from the very first email right through to your final dance.
