My Top 4 Wedding Venues in Leitrim
Four completely different styles, one seriously underrated county
Before Christmas, I took a trip with Leitrim Tourism to visit four of the county’s finest wedding venues. I thought I knew what to expect… I did not.

What I discovered is that Leitrim is quietly building one of the most diverse and exciting wedding offerings in Ireland. From woodland hideaways to castle grandeur, from micro-weddings to riverside classics, there is genuinely something here for every type of couple.
If you’re currently venue hunting and open to looking west, here are my top four wedding venues in Leitrim, each offering something completely different.
Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway
Alternative Woodland Retreat

If you’re dreaming of something relaxed, immersive and a little bit different, Drumhierny is your place.
Set within woodland, this venue feels like you’ve stepped into a private nature retreat. It’s intimate without being restrictive, stylish without being try-hard. There’s a strong sense of calm here, the kind of atmosphere that immediately slows you down. (It’s family run and you can feel that!)
Drumhierny is perfect for couples who:

If you’re the couple who say, “We don’t want a typical hotel wedding,” this should absolutely be on your list.
Lough Rynn Castle Estate
The Magical Castle Experience

Wow. Lough Rynn is a moment.
As you drive up, the castle is impressive. But when you round to the lakeside and see the full estate unfold, it becomes something else entirely. This is a true fairytale setting.
With over 300 acres of gardens, woodland pathways and breathtaking lake views, you are spoilt for photo backdrops. The Baronial Hall with its enormous fireplace, the historic library, the manicured gardens, it’s all layered in heritage and romance.

Lough Rynn is ideal for couples who:
The ballroom offers a more contemporary reception space, so you get the magic of the castle with the practicality of a modern celebration. It’s dramatic, beautiful and genuinely unforgettable.
The Old Rectory
The Intimate Micro-Wedding Haven

Now for something completely different.
The Old Rectory is a family-run country house overlooking Fenagh Lake, and it is perfrct for couples struggling to find small, meaningful wedding venues.
This is not a conveyor-belt wedding hotel. It’s a home away from home. You have the house, the lawns and the courtyard to yourselves. You can host your ceremony overlooking the lake, dine inside by candlelight, and celebrate with up to 34 staying on site, or up to 60 in the beautifully restored Carriage Suite.

The Old Rectory is perfect for couples who:
It’s relaxed and refreshingly different!
The Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon
The Classic Riverside Wedding Done Exceptionally Well

This venue surprised me in the best way.
Sitting right on the banks of the River Shannon, it offers stunning waterfront views and a seamless wedding day. The Kelly Suite provides a private arrival reception space, the Grand Ballroom is elegant and neutral (meaning you can style it your way), and everything is designed for ease.
The real standout was the food. I was treated to a full wedding tasting experience and it was exceptional. This is a culinary hidden gem.

The Landmark is ideal for couples who:
It’s award-winning for a reason. The team are warm, experienced and incredibly capable.
Why Leitrim Deserves Your Attention
Leitrim really is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets, and after visiting these four venues, it’s very clear why the wider region is known as Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. It offers that rare combination of breathtaking natural scenery, lakes, woodlands and space, while still being incredibly accessible. Whether your guests are travelling from Dublin, Cork, Galway or Belfast, or flying into any of the main airports, Leitrim is surprisingly central and easy to reach. It gives couples the feeling of a destination wedding without the logistical headache. There’s a sense of calm here, a slower pace, and a backdrop that does so much of the heavy lifting visually.
For couples looking for something a little less obvious, a little more personal, and still exceptionally well connected, Leitrim absolutely deserves your attention.
Leitrim offers natural beauty, lakeside views, space to breathe and, importantly, value compared to some of the more saturated wedding markets.
If you’re currently in the early stages of planning and open to exploring, I would strongly recommend putting Leitrim on your list.
And if you have questions about any of these venues, you know where to find me.
