Review – Roganstown Hotel & Country Club
Well what a day to take a trip out to Roganstown Hotel & Country Club today. I know Roganstown very well as I’ve MC’d a wedding event there and also styled a shoot for Xpose. Today, I got to take a proper look around and see the venue in all of it’s glory.
I never realised just how versatile the venue is. It has a country club look and feel but a more modern decor works well too. There are gorgeous sash windows everywhere so natural daylight is in abundance which would you believe is a rarity for many ballrooms. It is set on acres of parkland gold course with plenty of nature to enjoy. To get there, you are just off the M1 and 10 minutes from Dublin Airport. It’s so hard to believe you are still in Dublin when you are standing there in this tranquil location. There is no big sacrifice to get there and you really feel that you have been ejected to a different world miles away from the hustle and bustle.
The Ceremony
They have so many options for civil ceremonies. You can use 2 spaces indoor, The Green Room and The Aungier Suite. The Green Room is to the left in the lobby and offers the perfect setting for smaller intimate weddings. For larger ceremonies, the Aungier Suite is ideal. You can apply a starlit ceiling and backdrop for a more modern look or by setting up your ceremony towards the window, you get a more classic look.
On dry days, you can opt to have an outdoor in a number of locations across the grounds. There is a beautiful tree in front of the venue that makes for a distinct background. There is a more private area to the right which overlooks the golf course and then hidden in the centre of the hotel there is a courtyard called The Japanese Garden and it lives up to its name by being a Japanese Garden. Finally, there is a patio which extends from the bar and is slightly hidden and overlooks the golf course.
A marquee can be sourced for any couples looking to do their ceremony outside but who would like some coverage.
To Dine:
Again, a variety of options are available for couples. Depending on the size of wedding party, you can do a very small intimate meal in the Green Room. Majority of weddings opt for The Aungier Suite which is a larger space. The Aungier Suite is fully contained for guests as it has a bar in the room which means all of your guests stay together in the one place. There is a dance floor already laid down so very little movement of guests. A very special feature the room has is the private balcony overlooking the golf course.
Their packages are very affordable and start from €49 per guest and can really go up as far as you want pending on how you elaborate you would like to go. From menus to drink receptions, they really are so flexible in all aspects. Norma is the resident wedding coordinator and will work with each couple to develop their bespoke day.
To Prepare:
A brand new feature has landed at Roganstown, No Sixty One Roganstown. This is a brand new concept in beauty and relaxation. You can work with the therapists at No Sixty One to develop a skin care plan in the lead up to your big day and also have your actual wedding day pampering there. They offer all of the beauty necessities including make up. In addition, they have three treatment rooms that are sensory based so if you want a awake the relaxing senses, they do a lavender theme treatment which will embody scent.
Guest Experience:
Roganstown has just over 50 guest rooms. All are classically decorated to keep within the county club theme. Guests can avail of the leisure facilities including the pool and gym but Roganstown is a real golfers treat.
