Review – Midlands Park Hotel

It has been just over a month since my visit to Midlands Park Hotel. My husband and I were treated to a night away, fit for a king and queen!

The Midlands Park Hotel is located right in the heart of Portlaoise town and it really has everything you could possibly want from a break. The great thing for me was that it was only an hour outside of Dublin and had leisure facilities. When we arrived, the impressive facade of the building set the tone for our trip. The lobby will dazzle you. The decor is outstanding and for someone that is right in the middle of buying a house and thinking about decor, it was right up my alley. Decor aside, both myself and my husband couldn’t get over how friendly all of the staff were.

Our room was beyond our expectation. There is no other way to describe only ‘outstanding’. The bathroom has a two person rain drop wet-room, this was my favourite part. This is the ideal place to come for a pre-wedding break or a wedding anniversary. It’s a real treat.

We enjoyed some food in both the bar and the restaurant and the food was excellent. Kelly’s Steakhouse is part of the hotel and next time we visit I will be sure to try it as the reviews are great. I took some time out to meet with their resident wedding planner, Yvonne Guilfoyle. Yvonne is one of Irelands’ most seasoned wedding planners and comes with years of knowledge. I was shown around the venue and what I loved about this venue is how well thought through the space is tailored for a wedding party. Your guests will be whisked to a  spacious private area within the hotel, this area is fully contained with a bar and an outdoor patio. The striking decor that I mentioned earlier continues to the wedding area. The decor softens in the wedding ballroom. The colour palette is ivory and gold. I would describe the ballroom as being opulent as it has very high ceilings and impressive chandeliers.
