Review – Kinnitty Castle Hotel

Kinnitty Castle Hotel

#sponsored – whilst this is a paid review, please note that all opinions are my own.
I took a spin out to Kinnitty Castle Hotel last Sunday. I always said that if I didn’t get married where I did, Kinnitty Castle would have been my next choice. What I love about this particular castle is its great grandeur yet it has a balance of warmth and friendliness.
As you drive up, you are greeted by this impressive castle.

The castle sits on over 80 acres of woodlands. There is no shortage of locations for outdoor wedding photography. My particular favourite is the walk way to the bridge. What makes this venue stand out for me is that it has not been modernised what so ever. Venues like this just boast charm and Kinnitty Castle Hotel is no exception.

When you walk through the door the large paintings and coats of armour catch your eye and as you walk up the stone stair case you will see a feature stained glass window. This would make a great silhouette bridal shot.

To the left of reception, the drawing room is set up for arrival receptions. Your guests can mingle between here and the bar. I loved the bar, it is the perfect place to curl up with the newspaper in front of the fire. The decor is old world with plenty of large scale paintings, high ceilings and antique furniture.

If you take a right at reception you walk in to an impressive private dining room. This room felt Georgian as it has beautiful coving, walk-in fireplace and a really elegant bright look. This is perfect for small intimate weddings or for a meal the night before or day after your wedding. You can also use this room for a civil ceremony.

There are a few outdoor locations for a civil ceremony, I loved the area over the bridge with the large stones or there is a stunning tree in the woods which makes for a beautiful backdrop.

The bridal suite is unreal. The sleigh bed is the size of a house. It is so luxurious. The room is big enough to host your bridal preparation and there is great light for make up.I was taken on a tour of the guest rooms and every room is different. No two rooms look the same. They all have a lovely feature, whether it is wooden beams or a stand alone bath.

Through the court yard, you will come across The Great Hall. Your banquet will take place in this very unique room.

This hall is like no other I have ever seen. It is a rectangular shape and you can have one long table running the whole way down, it is like Hogwarts banquet hall from Harry Potter. It lends itself to a medieval theme very well. The room can be set in many formats with round or block tables. To the left of the top table you will find the bar in a hidden nook. By the way….there’s Prosecco on tap…..amazing!

After the wedding reception, your guests can make their way to the residents bar which is located in the basement of the hotel. There are loads of interesting nooks and crannies in there. Your guests will love it.I love the little details and one thing that caught my eye was the crystal wine glasses. It adds such a nice touch to the tables.

The team are so so nice. The wedding team and general manager Wayne are so invested in every wedding and everything that they do is with the wedding couple and their guests in mind. They want to make your wedding day not only seamless but perfect.

If you love a medieval style, vintage and not a fan of a modern look, this is really worth considering. They will also be upgrading parts of the castle in 2017. I can’t wait to see what they do!
