Review – Castletroy Park Hotel

I had the pleasure of taking a spin out to The Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick last Sunday. I had no preconception of what to expect as it wasn’t on my radar as a wedding venue. From the moment I walked through the door I was so blown away. The decor is so striking and unique. There was something cool at every corner. It is a venue that you can’t help but get excited in!

As you enter, you can’t help but be impressed by the lobby/reception area. It has a blend of old and new decor. To the left you have a beautiful ornate reception and to the right there is a contemporary lounge area with a feature fireplace and arm chairs. When you walk through reception you are greeted by the wedding pre-drinks area. It has a grand piano in the centre and a plush lounge area. The hotel offers a resident pianist for all weddings arrival receptions. The drinks display is impressive and you can get as creative as you like here. A cocktail reception for your guests would work really well and match the surroundings perfectly.

The Ballroom is very glamorous. The whole venue is glam….it oozes Hollywood Glamour. There is an art deco style that’s neutral enough to impose too heavy a style yet offers enough so that you don’t have to invest heavily in decor. I love the huge mirrors as they bounce the light from the chandeliers and give a very ‘grand’ feeling to the room. I had some time to chat with Head Chef – Fintan and he showed me how they serve the top table. For all weddings that order beef, they carve the beef fresh at the top table so those sitting at the top table get to pick their piece. The beef is a taste sensation…..seriously….I can still taste it. The beef is locally sourced and slow cooked on a bed of celery and herbs. It is dressed with salt and pepper and it is just out of this world. I also tried a dessert while I was there. They have a resident pastry chef. This means that all of their baked goods and desserts are created fresh on the day. A lot of venues buy in desserts and whilst there is nothing wrong with that, you can taste the difference of home cooked goodies.

The hotel is very flexible with the menus, packages and decor. I was working my way through the wedding options and there is so much scope to mix and match so that you get your very own bespoke package that suits you.

The bridal suite is every girls dream bedroom, it goes on forever and has a dress up area. You have a separate lounge, dress up and sleeping area. It is very special.

This venue is perfect for a Hollywood/cosmopolitan style wedding. Your guests will love the atmosphere and the most important thing is that your wedding is in very safe hands with the wedding team here.
