New York Bridal Fashion Week Trends 2020

It was only April when I was pounding Manhattans pavement going from bridal show to bridal show. Here we are in October and round 2 of New York Bridal Fashion Week. This time round, whilst not a huge amount has evolved, I’m seeing some core looks that are looking set to define the bridal stage over the coming months.

Slits & Splits

Off The Shoulder

I’m seeing so many dresses that are either shaped off the shoulder or are strapless gowns with detachable petite sleeves to give the look of off the shoulder. It definitely channels 70’s vibes

Sleeves

Ok so we build on our previous trend and bring you sleeves. There are so many ways I’m seeing sleeves. You’ve got full coverage to simple nods as above. I love the gowns that give you 2 looks in one and allow you to remove the sleeves at night.

Bows

And not just any old bow. A good statement bow or nothing at all. We recently saw Kathryn Thomas rocking the backless with bow look and it was amazing.

Trouser / Pant Suits

This trend continues to build momentum and there’s just so many designers adding a feature look to their collections. I love a pant suit look and we saw Vogue Williams Matthews wear a Halfpenny London pant suit with detachable skirt. We see no signs of this look slowing down.

Coverage

Whilst the trend of V cut eeerthang is still alive and well, we see some designers reintroducing coverage from neck to toe but without losing the sex appeal. We see sculpted, fitted looks which accentuate curves.

Razzle Dazzle

I always found London to bring the razzke dazzle and maybe that’s because Eliza Jane Howell features greatly there but I’m starting to see a few designers add some tassels which is never a bad thing!

Naeem Khan

Out-There!

This list wouldn’t be complete without a nod to Vera Wang. Her recent contemporary collection is definitely edgy and full of attitude. We see black as a strong feature. Of course, I also can’t sign off without mentioning Miss Hayley Paige at least once! Check out the bridal cowgirl hat for good measure!
