Destination Weddings
Many Irish couples are choosing to say ‘I do’ under foreign skies. With a significant increase in weddings abroad, Spain, Portugal, and Italy are topping the charts as the most desirable locations. Digital Weddings
Digital technology is becoming a key player in modern weddings. Emerging ‘content’ services are hiring social media content creators (The Wedding Content Company Swiftly Yours, The Social Bride, (She’s good for the abroad weddings) and Toast) to document the big day, providing a reel of snippets perfect for platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
Speaking of TikTok, ‘TikTok weddings’ are on the rise, with couples pre-planning TikTok-friendly moments to capture during their special day.
Digital Innovations
More and more couples are embracing digital wedding offerings. Digital invitations, wedding websites, (My Wedding Whizz , Green Envelope) (affiliate link) and innovative ideas like the ‘Audio Guest Book‘ are gaining popularity. The Audio Guest Book, where guests record their well wishes on a vintage-style phone, is a digital keepsake to treasure. Another novelty making waves is the 360-degree photo booth – a visual masterpiece delivered straight to your phone! Carolyn Sweets provide this service.
Fashion Forward
On the fashion front, plunging necklines, high slits, off-shoulder necklines, and a return of the 80s style puff sleeves are trending. The key is versatility, with detachable sleeves, overskirts, and bows allowing brides to create two distinct looks for their day. And for those opting for a smaller, legal ceremony before their big day, the ‘mini-wedding dress’ is becoming a go-to option. Sophie Haboo being a great example of this. The Little White Dress is THE statement of the year.

Personalisation is making a grand appearance. From bridal squad pyjamas to proposal boxes and hen party clothing, items are being stamped with the names and dates of the couples, making each piece that bit more special. Companies such as Noted, Hanalee, My Wedding Shop are great providers of this.
Accessories
Pearls are a hit in accessories, appearing on everything from the edging of suits to hair accessories and even shoes (Charlotte Mills being brilliant in this space). Bows…The bigger the better! Whether its detachable or a hair clip, brides are mad about them. Bridal sunglasses are also becoming a staple, complementing the trend of destination weddings. The veil has made a huge comeback and it’s not just an accessory, it’s a key feature. Recently we see Olivia Attwood going for this.
Colour Schemes
In terms of colour, expect to see more of Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Viva Magenta. This berry-like tone is set to work its way through everything from bridesmaid dresses to floral arrangements. Rusty tones and burnt orange are still big features outside of the main pastel pinks etc.
Sustainability & Entertainment
Sustainability remains a key concern, with couples seeking ways to reduce their environmental impact. Meanwhile, on-table entertainment and grazing tables keep guests entertained during non-dancing times.
Kids at Weddings
For those couples who decide to invite children to their wedding, expert help is increasingly being sought. The days of simple babysitting are giving way to full-on child-friendly itineraries, thanks to the likes of professional wedding nannies. These dedicated teams not only look after the kids but also entertain them throughout the day and even help with bedtime duties.

As for our four-legged family members, their involvement in weddings is becoming more prominent than ever before. Dogs are no longer just cute photo props but have taken on a more central role in wedding celebrations. Specialist companies are now offering comprehensive pet services, which include bringing your dog to the ceremony, caring for them throughout the day, and even providing overnight care.
This not only ensures your pet is part of your special day, but also that they’re well-cared for and entertained.
