Hair Extensions and Your Wedding
New Hair Who Dis!!!
I can’t even begin to express how good it feels to have my hair sorted once and for all. A huge thank you to Tori and all the gorgeous team in The Hair Company Broadstone for transforming my hair with Hair Talk Extensions.
Last year I had bond hair extensions and I loved them but they definitely become a challenge as they grow out and just maintaining a healthy scalp was tough. When I did my research in to Hair Talk Extensions, I started to learn that they use tapes which for me feels less abrasive than other types. Plus, I find that many extensions have a synthetic feel and have really blunt ends, Hair Talks extensions are made from real hair and to be honest, when I run my fingers through my hair I have to take a minute as they feel very close to my actual hair. Now, the big challenge and reservation I had was how on earth they were going to get my colour right as I have an unusual hair colour with variants of colour running through my hair. They blended two colours together and nailed it! It’s almost impossible to see the difference.
I use hair extensions to give my hair a boost. Im not looking for length, I just want richer, fuller hair that I can adapt to wearing up, down, curled or straight. no damage on your existing hair.
So what does this mean for a bride to be! I sat down with Tori from The Hair Company Broadstone to get the exact details.
The good news is that you can wear up or down. The tapes are so so subtle so that you can’t see any bumps through the hair. (Currently screaming at the girls on love Island who’s bonds are on show every time they wear their hair up- they clearly need Tori from The Hair Company Broadstone to go in a sort them out!)
Timeline:
“The tapes can last 6 – 10 weeks once applied so it completely up to the bride. Of course, the closer you can get to the wedding date is preferred as the tapes would be in the best position and not grown out. The time from colour match appointment to application appointment could be 4 working days by the time the salon gets their order in and delivered to the salon. The tapes cant be washed for 48 hours after application so we would suggest having them applied at least 3 days before the big day if they wanted to get them applied as close to the day as possible. All of these time frames are important to considered when booking in all hair appointments.”
Preparation:
The only prep needed before getting tape extensions is to make sure you have used a clarifying shampoo to remove anything that could interfere with the tape when applied. You can ask the salon to do a wash before application if you want.
Maintenance:
“For maintenance, Hair Talks have a range of home care that we would suggest they use to ensure the tapes are cared for properly and are not interfered with. These products don’t contain any sulphates and more importantly no oil so the tape is not broken down. Oil can be used on the ends of the hair only to keep the hair hydrated. Other than that we would suggest the usual tying the hair in a low pony at night just so the extensions don’t get tangled”
I spent the last few nights away with swimming pools, steam rooms, saunas, humidity…..not a bother on them.
Upstyling:
“This is completely depending on the thickness of the bride’s hair, especially if they want to pull the hair high or brushed completely back. There would be no problem if the hair was parted and pulled back for example. We would say however that the tapes don’t limit the styles the bride can try as we have options. In the Hairtalk range we have 3 different types of tapes original, plus and pro. The PRO tapes are particularly great for people who have thinning hair or like to pull their hair back as the the tape is covered with hair therefore it looks like hair coming from the root. The tapes are handy for around the hairline as when pulled back they blend into the hair.
If someone is completely new to hair extensions we would suggest trying them before your trial so the stylist can get to know the needs of the hair and more importantly to see if they like how their hair looks once styled.”
