Gifts For Groom from Louis Copeland
I always feel a bit sad for the guys as when it comes to wedding celebrations, they tend to get left behind. For brides there are so many treats and pampering. Yet, for grooms, it tends to be a little less of a splurge.
On my recent visit to Louis Copeland & Sons , I had a bit of time to cast my eye on some special items for grooms-to-be or even for the groomsmen and fathers. Now, these are really special pieces that will give that well deserved focus for himself.
At Louis Copeland & Sons they are one of the country’s most well known names for quality grooms wear with locations across Dublin, Galway and Cork. What you may not know is that it’s a great haven for non-traditional grooms gifts that he will actually get the usage out of. We’re talking about ‘swackets’, ‘trainers’ or even a gifting their wedding ‘made to measure’ blazer…. now wouldn’t that be pretty nice. We generally fall straight in to the sentimental gifts but I wanted to share some really practical gift ideas that they will actually get the wear out if.

Here are my picks:
First up has to be the Weekender Bag. This my friends is the bag of magic. I have one in brown for my other half and we use it so much (and yes I said ‘we’ as I also use it….win win!). The bag opens up to be a suit bag. You can slip the suit in to that compartment and then the bag folds right back up to be a weekend bag. There is a separate compartment for shoes and toiletries with plenty of space in the middle for all of your bits and bobs. It looks great too.
Next up, I absolutely adore this one. Perfect for grooms but also a really nice piece for fathers and best men. It’s a Loake Luxury Valet Box with a wide range of ‘shoe care’ so there would be no excuses for a less than perfect shine on the wedding day. Such a lovely keepsake too.
Moving on, we now have something for the distinguished gentleman looking for a little refinement for casual time. Introducing the ‘Swacket‘. This particular piece is so popular. It’s a knitted piece which allows for the look of a blazer without having to be overly formal. Made in Italy, it feels divine and it has a lovely slim fit. This is a timeless piece so there is no doubt that it will get a long happy life of wear.
Next up, I had to add in a sneaker, purely as I know it’s really hard to find smart casual footwear. This particular collection would be perfect for day two without having to wear a formal shoe the next day and then of course, your groom will get plenty of wear out of them.
We move on to a traditional style gift with a twist. This is the Bellroy Hide and Seek Premium Wallet. It has a hidden compartment for import documents….now wouldn’t that be a safe bet to keep a copy of a speech. It is genuine leather and is made using some of the best techniques. It would be a great one for not just the groom but all the gents in the bridal party.
We now move to a very sophisticated gift. A made to measure shirt. This is the gift that keeps giving. Not only do you get a bespoke shirt but the whole experience of booking the appointment, going in store, picking fabrics. patterns and overall look is a lovely day out for you both. For same sex grooms, wouldn’t this be such a treat to each other?!
If you wanted to go a step further than the shirt, you could go for a full ‘Made To Measure Suit‘, which is one of the most popular services that Louis Copeland & Sons offer. The Made to Measure suit can be the actual wedding suit too. Price wise, they starting point is from €995 and that is for a very well presented, high quality and tailored suit. When the suit is being designed, the team a very conscious of making sure that each element of the suit can be worn as a separate item to ensure that you get the wear out of it as well. Again, like the shirt service, you can buy the package online, book an appointment and then you will meet with the expert team to go through looks, cuts, styles, fabrics, fits…you name it. A lovely day out for both of you curating a bespoke suit together.
If you wanted to go for something a little more casual as a gift, Louis Copeland & Sons have a great stock of beautiful, timeless casual clothes. A quick example would be this Zip Sweater or the V Neck Sweater. Both are very simple looks but it’s the kind of item that will get years of wear out of. This is ideal for a practical groom and if not for the wedding, definitely a nice treat at Christmas or a Birthday.
I hope you enjoyed that little shop around and of course, there is plenty more to view in store or over on LouisCopeland.com.
